  1. How does Bernoulli’s Principle explain lift in an airplane?

The principle of Bernoulli’s enables the airplane to lift because of its wings and shape. The shape of an aircraft allows for it to achieve lift since air flows faster over the top of the side, and air flowing bottom the wings of the airplane is slow. The fast-moving air on the top creates a region of low pressure, and the stagnant moving air creates an area of high pressure, thus enabling an airplane to achieve its lift.

  1. How does the shape of the wing of an airplane allow it to fly?

The wing of an airplane is shaped in such a way that it allows air at a higher speed to move on the top hence lowering the pressure exerted. So the pressure exerted underneath the wing is higher than on the top of the side. Therefore, the pressure difference generates a force on the arm that enables the wing to lift into the air, thus allowing an airplane to fly.

  1. How do noise-canceling headphones work?

The noise-canceling headphones merely reduce noise, and thus their work is always enhanced by low-frequency droning sounds. They usually use active noise control that measures the ambient music, which is incorporated in a microphone hence creating a waveform. The waveform usually has crests and troughs which do not cancel out. Thus, the generated waveform often creates a negative ambient sound, which is mixed with any audio signal according to the desired tune.

  1. Does sound exist in space? Explain your answer.

Sound travels in waves but not in a straight line. As sound travels, it makes air molecules vibrate. On our planet Earth, sound enters our ears when air molecules vibrate. In space, there is a vacuum, and this means no air; thus, the sound between the stars and planets does not travel. Since in the area, there is no air, so no vibration of air molecules hence no sound in the space.

  1. In terms of science, why do knives have to be sharp?

Knives are required to be sharp to enhance easy cutting. A sharp knife has a thin edge, and therefore the force of the hands is exerted on a small area, thus creating higher pressure. Besides, this high pressure exerted on a small space makes cutting easy while blunt knives make cutting difficult due to low demand.
