Self-Assessment Survey on Time Management Skills

Time management is a very crucial thing in life. With good time management, it is easy to meet the goals and achievements of your life. Students in schools should also take it as their responsibility to manage the time while studying. A good time manager keeps the records of the advancement of the skills in time management. In the schools, students are advised to have their personal timetables where they record their daily activities and the time they intend to accomplish them. On the personal assessment of the time management, we were testing on how we carefully record the dates of the upcoming major events, how I feel panicky upon being behind my work, how I ensure I work towards achieving my goals, how I miss the classes, how I often seek assistance from the other people, and I have set my time plan. After I got assessed about those dimensions, I can write a few things about my time management skills.

From my score, I describe my self-assessment survey; I can say that my time management skills are good, although there are some areas where I need to improve on. From the score, my strength is on setting the small goals and working towards achieving them, keeping the records of the important upcoming events like exams, attending all the classes in time, and setting up a regular plan for my study activities. My weaknesses are that I do not like consulting the students, instructors and the other supportive services, I often miscalculate how much time homework tasks will take, and also I panic about being behind my work.

My strengths are said to be my time management skills, which i think would help me in achieving my goals. By attending the classes, I have been able to learn everything that the instructor has to say. I don’t like missing classes, and most of the time, I tend to be the first person in the class. I already adapted the time in which class is supposed to be taught. I have a timetable that I keep on checking whenever I feel like I have mismanaged my time. I take every aspect of the time in my plan as a very crucial one, and unless something special comes across, I cannot change my attitude towards it. Since I was young, I have taught myself to work with the time table, and it has worked effectively. I have also included the recreation time, revision time, and my leisure time so that I would make sure that everything would be okay for me when it comes to time management. I have also been consulting my instructors on the areas where I feel I have gone wrong as long as time management is concerned. They have helped me in becoming a good time manager, and that is why my score is positive. In summary, I can describe my time management as something I feel I started while I was a young person. I have learned through my role models on how it is important to manage time. My time management has, therefore, helped me in getting good grades and also achieving some of my personal goals.

I cannot say that my time management is perfect because there are some areas where I have weaknesses. I have tried all my best to upgrade on those areas, and i think I have improved on some while others are yet to be improved. Sometimes I am worried about failing or when I do not meet my targets. I have decided to deal with that issue, but it has been of vain. I think my weaknesses have made me get the bad grades in some exams. For now, I am working towards updating my weaknesses and become a good time manager hence help me achieve my dream of passing with the flying colors.

During the spring semester, I have been very careful with the way I manage my time, especially during the period of Covid-19. My strengths in time management have enabled me to observe all the class tutorials and also do all the assignments given by the instructors while submitting them within the time given. They have also helped me know why it is important to always consider time, especially when there is nobody is controlling you. There are some incidences where many students could not follow the tutorials, but for me, I was very keen on them, and that is why I feel that my time management skills have helped me do my assignments in time, follow the tutorials in time, and also balance between my physical activities and the education activities. Most of the assignments which I have received the feedback I have met the instructors’ goals hence proving that my time management skills have helped me.

Some of the weaknesses in time management have also affected me negatively. Sometimes I would be overwhelmed to the extent that I don’t know what to do. My challenge of not consulting my friends would mess up with my life sometimes. I missed more than ten classes and had to take some extra time to recover what I lost during that time. I also ended up getting bad grades, which were not part of my plan.

In the next semester, I would like to upgrade my time management skills. In this case, I will come up with a timetable that would cover all the things as long as education is concerned. I will include all the courses I will be taking on my timetable, my daily physical activities, and also any other thing that would seem to consume my time. I will create time for asking questions to my instructors, read as many encouraging books as possible, have some specific times of working, prioritize my tasks appropriately, and be selective in the environments which I will have my studies.

It is important for university students like me to have time management skills because they have many things running in their minds, and without a good time plan, they may end up missing some, which are important. When the students have the time management skills, they will not miss the classes; they would prioritize the important things, have enough time for their studies, and balance between their leisure time and study times. In addition to that, the students will be able to meet their goals within the specified time. This means that they would be easily tracking the areas where they have not achieved then start working towards achieving them. I would, therefore, advise all the students to have positive time management skills.
