Self-Created Assignment Title
Begin paper here within an indented paragraph. First paragraph should explain the nursing issue. Be sure to provide an unbiased, comprehensive explanation supported by the literature; do not insert personal opinion, experiences, or bias in this paper. You need to 1) Identify the issue; 2) Define the issue; 3) Discuss the prevalence of the issue; 4) Describe the top 3 reasons the issue exists (the causes); and 5) Discuss the top 3 existing or potential negative outcomes (the effects) of the issue. You need to provide evidence from the literature to illustrate all of these. If the issue is something like compassion fatigue or nurse burnout be sure to also describe the manifestations with the definition; how does it manifest for the nurse. Manifestations are different from the negative outcomes; the manifestations help to explain the negative outcomes. Be sure to only describe the direct causes and direct negative outcomes of the issue; do not stack causes or outcomes. For example, if the issue is C, do not write that B causes C and A causes B OR C results in D and D results in E. Only discuss how B causes C and C results in D. You need to illustrate for the reader what the issue is, why it is significant, and why it needs attention. Expand on the most significant cause and/or negative outcomes to lead the reader to the proposed strategy in the next paragraph.
Second paragraph should propose a specific strategy to directly address ONE cause or outcome associated with the issue. Again, the strategy should reduce, eliminate, or improve ONE cause or negative outcome of the issue presented in the paragraph above. Provide a brief explanation of the strategy; what are the essential components of the strategy? Provide a brief rationale why the proposed strategy and the one cause or outcome it will address can be or should be addressed first. Be clear, specific, and direct. The nursing profession is proposing the strategy not you individually.
The following paragraph(s) should provide evidence from the literature to support the strategy will indeed work to reduce, eliminate, or improve the ONE cause or outcome of the issue. You need literature evidence to show that the strategy is effective. For a paper this size, you should strive for at least 3 sources of strong supporting evidence. You need to build an argument with the literature evidence to convince the reader that the strategy is effective. Be careful not to provide further evidence of the issue but to provide evidence that the strategy is effective.
Feel free to add appropriate level headings throughout the paper to guide the reader. Use proper APA formatting for all in-text citations. If you use a direct quote be sure to include a page, paragraph or heading location in the in-text citation. Do not have a standalone quote; you must introduce a quote in some way. Do not over quote but be sure to cite! Synthesize relevant points from the literature for the reader. Be sure you have an introductory and concluding/transition sentence for each paragraph. Do not write in first person for this paper. Strive for active voice rather than passive voice. Be direct and concise in your sentences. Make the connections from one idea/point to the other for the reader. Review scholarly writing resources/tips provided in Module 1. Be sure to change your font (in the body of paper and headers) to the APA required 12pt Times New Roman – Times New Roman is not the default font in Microsoft Word. Remove the extra line space after a manual “enter” within the paragraph settings – the extra line space is the default setting in Microsoft Word.
Finally, you need to write a conclusion paragraph. Succinctly take the reader through the entire paper: restate the issue, restate the strategy statement, and summarize the key points in the evidence that supports the strategy.
