Question 1

Naturally, life s has never felt like decreasing the size of the social group a person identifies with. The recent Covid-19 pandemic has had an effect of changing the direction of goals to have them directed towards well-being. Unlike the typical situations where people want to realize self-actualization, the goal has now been social welfare and security. The thought of one or a close one being affected by them pandemic has tended to divert the attention of the population to secure their loved ones. It appears to many that there is just a little time left to have them fix their ignored areas. Intense emotions remain, but the social network has now narrowed down to a specific group.

As opposed to the normalcy of people preferring to expand their knowledge and future potentials, future investment, they are looking to expand their network of socializing to capture more health professionals. The Socioemotional Selectivity Theory is in the application today with the general fear of the Covid-19 as people look to stabilize their current emotions. Staying at home as the theory proposes has been a method of bringing families together, hoping to give hope to each other and even mend previously broken relationships. The issue has been a shift to focus on the emotional well-being of close ones. Psychologically, the concern has been the welfare of the close family.

The difference between how people perform better than others is the aspect of disparate in goals, and this is to mean that the setting and adjustment of goals impact performance significantly.  Since success is a journey, speed comes in to be able to cover that, and hence the aspect of time left becomes a pivot in achieving this goal. Limited time psychologically sets goal setters on a higher pace in a bid to beat time and achieve their goals within the set time. The exposure to the time left, thus, activates one to either slow on their activity towards achieving their destiny or enable faster mechanisms to accomplish these goals at the earliest opportunity. However, most of the time, time is usually limited, so rush to beat time is often a common phenomenon.  Due to pandemics and the reality that a lot has to be achieved within a certain period of time, people have to adjust to address more urgent issues at the expense of others. Lifespan theory of control comes to the application where emotions run high jut before the achievement of a target, and after, feelings slowly fade away. Selective primary control is in action when the pressure to achieve is low; otherwise, secondary is automatically in use. When time is the most significant factor, biological and social factors kick in to influence the achievement of these goals. That is when, according to the theory, there is a shift from life goals to the current situation at hand.
