Skilled leadership
With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and protests in the states over the brutal murder of George Floyd, the United States of America required a leader with strong leadership skills. people in the country are in despair for not only the increasing deaths and the number of infections due to the pandemic but also due to the public unrest. This is however not the first time that such situations have happened in the country. during such situations in the past, leaders stepped up to calm the people’s fears, and provide solutions for the benefit of the people and the country. for example, Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the greatest leaders the country had. As the leaders of the African American civil rights movement, he led non-violent protests that ensured civil rights for every person and equality between the black and the white Americans. through this, he demonstrated leadership skills such as patriotism, self-confidence, courage and, charisma.
During such stressful times, leaders should pose skills such as compassion for the people, emotional intelligence, and courage to lead the people even if they are in despair. Leaders also need to be truthful, charismatic and confident in their ability to lead the people. they should be agile; they should embrace humility and also a positive attitude. Finally, leaders should have decision-making skills, communication skills and problem-solving skills for them to lead the people effectively during the pandemic. I do not feel like I would be a strong leader during tumultuous times such as these. This is because I am not able to work through stressful situations, hence cannot make proper decisions or solve problems effectively. I also think that this moment would require a better communicator, a charismatic leader and a leader who puts the needs of the people fast. I lack these skills and abilities; hence I cannot make a good leader.
