Social and emotional learning
There exist strategies for implementing social and emotional learning in high schools in ways that make sure each high school student learns from them. Still, there is insufficient research on how social and emotional learning affects students’ academic performance. Schools are looking for evidence on how social and emotional learning is connected to their performance in classroom settings. Incorporating SEL instruction into all classrooms in high schools is an appropriate approach to implement social and emotional learning. This approach allows every high school student to develop their social, emotional, and cognitive capacities. It also creates a conducive environment for students to engage in equitable, culturally responsive, and developmentally informed modes of learning. SEL is essential in different areas of learning that help maximize a student’s academic achievement such as conflict resolution, college and career readiness, thinking skills, social awareness, responsible decision-making, mental health, and self-control
