SOCIAL CONSTRUCTIVISM 

            Judith Lorber describes gender to be socially constructed, where an individual understanding of reality is partial but not entire. She continues to describe it as an identity that needs to be placed as a concept. The understanding of what people view gender to be is partial if not entire. Individuals have a perception about gender that one side of gender is considered to be superior to the other while the other is viewed to be inferior and subjective. Judith looks beyond the categories of gender and tries to examine the connections between both male and female. Signs of gender, according to Judith, are ubiquitous, and they are easily recognized with how they wear, talk, walk. When a child’s gender is evident individuals treat them differently from the other, and in return, children tend to act differently.

Gender cannot be differentiated by physical or biological characteristics of males and females. Gender is fundamentally a social construct when people do gender to be perceived differently, either masculine or feminine. People should be categorized according to their sexes, not gender. People do gender by giving names and dressing their children to what they perceive gender is. In society, gender is differentiated by talents personalities, preference and interest. Gender is seen with what individuals do. Social constructivism insists that if both men and women are doing the same task, gender separation is done by giving them different job titles.

MATRIARCHY OR PATRIARCHY

A matriarchy is a society governed or dominated by women. The women have more power in the political, social, moral, economic forums and even in control of the property, than their male counterparts. The Patriarchy is an arrangement where the men hold more power than their peers who are the women. This means that in terms of political control, moral and social issues, they have privileges. Patriarchy, in itself, is a set of ideas that tries to explain or justify why men have total dominance than women. It shows that the inherent characteristics that men have justified them to have dominance or power over their female counterparts. Patriarchy has displayed itself in political-religious social and economic establishments.

Although male dominance in America is reducing or weakening, patriarchy problems exist. Most men have leadership roles in various economic-political settings. Multiple examples show that Patriarchy is exercised. For instance, in the elections, President Trump was elected over Hillary Clinton, and yet most of the voters were women (Christ, 2016).  All of the presidents in America have been men. Another example is that women still have their surnames as their husband’s name. Currently, Patriarchy is weakening daily in America. Most women now own property, and they are participating in leadership positions example is Hillary Clinton, who was vying for the presidency in the previous elections.

DEBUGGING GENDER GAP

Today, the world has dynamically revolutionized in different sectors. The financial industry has not been left out in embracing the technology. Fintech has emerged as one of the greatest innovations in the financial sector. Through these developments, there have been created numerous job opportunities worldwide. Though there are many people employed through these innovations, the gender ratio representation has been emerged as a biased trend. In this field, the number of employed persons is about ninety percent. Out of which only 38% are women, and about 50% are male. This is roughly the gender representation in this field. These figures show that women have not been entirely accepted as competent labourers.

These figures describe a biased world and a ruthless environment for women to survive. In most companies, women who secure job opportunities face many challenges. About thirty percent of employed women face sexual harassment to secure a position. All these harsh treatments show that women are disadvantaged in this field. Most employers think of women as feeble beings, to handle technical duties.  Due to holding on erroneous cultures, women are said to be beings who are slaves to men (Holtzblatt and Marsden, 2018). This notion has created an avenue for discrimination and harassment. Other people describe women as insecure and tender gender that needs to be cared for. These claims have denied them equal opportunities to men. In conclusion, women are not feeble being and are equally equal to the task. They should not be discriminated and be left out in job opportunities.
