Part one: Organization

What was the speech about?

The speech was about students who had a graduation ceremony. Some speakers encourage graduates in life after school. They were organized because, in the video, the audiences are taking the speech positively, as seen in the clip. The audience is persuaded and will always remember this speech because the 1st speaker, while the lesson involved a short story, was told by his wife.

How was it organized?

This speech was systematically organized because two speakers are involved.

To think outside the box by having big dreams with goals and not fearing to fail in life. They were also encouraged that they should be disciplined and be consistent each day and work hard every day for them to achieve the goals they have in their lives. The audiences were also told that successful people work hard, and doing a lot more does not mean you get a lot more done. They were also told that never to confuse movement with progress and nothing is worthwhile than taking risks. To be successful, one has to take risks. The audiences were also inspired that every failure in a moment is closer to success, and for one to be successful in life, he or she should be embarrassed and fail in life; if one does not fail, he or she does not try.

How would you organize it differently?

I would have let the audiences also give a speech since the speakers did not have that space.

Could you follow it easily?

Since the speech was direct to the point, one could follow it so quickly.

Did it have a structure?

The speech has a good structure because we have two speakers advising the audiences in different ways. The 1st speaker talked about making the right decisions in life with what a person has and not how much one has. The 2nd speaker encouraged the audiences to be passionate to one feels about and not fear failing in life as one should fail to be successful.

If they used visual aides, were they effective?

In this speech, there is no use of visual aids.

Include any other information you think would be relevant to analyzing the organization of the speech.

They should have considered including the use of visual aides in the speech because there might be audiences who a disability of hearing.

Part two: Delivery.

How was the speech delivered?

The speech was well delivered because the speakers tried to maintain eye contact with the audiences. After all, it is evident by how they respond to the speaker, for example, through clapping their hands and laughing.

Critique the speakers:

Volume, rate, gestures, poise, paralinguistics, interaction with the audience, vocal variety, interaction with the audience, and eye contact?

The speakers’ volume was audible since they used microphones to reach all the graduation square audiences. Their speed while giving the speech was neither faster nor slow. Speakers used gestures while giving their address, especially when they insisted on something. They also tried to maintain eye contact with the audiences to ensure that they remained attentive throughout the speech.

Part three: Speaker Improvement

What would you tell the speaker to help them improve their public speaking?

The speakers should consider using visual aides because some people have a disability of hearing.

Did they use filler words?

In this speech, there is no use of filler words.

How were their timing and rhythm?

According to me, their timing was appropriate, and their pace was also excellent because they waited for their audiences to finish laughing and clapping their hands so that they can continue with their talk.

Where did they do well?

Since it was a graduation ceremony, the speakers based their speech about life after school because that is what the audiences wanted to hear at the moment.

Where do they need improvement?

The speakers did not let the audiences ask questions or give their speech about school life and what they had achieved.
