Primarily, a theory according to Logman Dictionary of Contemporary is a set of ideas to explain something which, when applied to the scientific field in purposeful principle explaining a phenomenon. As applied in social statistical researches, its models such as functionalism, behaviorism, interactionism, and ethnomethodology are used to define a problem as a result of specified ideas brought in particularly. Correspondingly, a theory has a role in data analysis in areas such as traditional statistical training (Holt & Scheiner, 2019). The law of large numbers and central limit theorem are backed with normal approximations depicted from theories. Generally, theory in the research process and statistics are formatted to predict, explain, or understand a phenomenon; to extend or challenge existing knowledge in the bounded assumptions.
- Discuss the importance of the level of measurement?
It is essential to know the level of measurement especially in variables. Level of measurement for instance nominal and ordinal are crucial in understanding the highest amount of detail also identifying the ratio and intervals of the most amount of information (Padgett & Morgan, 2019). Also, it is vital in the interpretation of data from the variables and, an individual thereafter can decide comfortably the appropriate statistical analysis to implement. - Why the normal curve is considered the most important concept in statistics?
The normal curve in statistics is essential via its ability to represent the normal distribution. It is considered as the distribution curve of the probability of a normal random variable (Mano, 2017). Based on natural phenomena such as measurement error, IQ Scores, and heights, it turns it as the most important concept of statistics as it fits in the identified natural phenomenon. Its category such as the Normal Probability Curve is used to help statistic personnel to understand the size, slope, and shape of the curve. It denotes the probability that under a normal curve, observation lies within one standard mean deviation to an approximate of 0.68.
