Ways to Reduce Stress to Avoid Burnout
- Working with a purpose is a method used to avoid the burnout that involves finding a deeper meaning or impact for my daily activities. When my daily activities at work have a more personal meaning than just getting a paycheck, I will experience job satisfaction and cope better with presenting workplace challenges.
- Performing a job analysis reveals all the responsibilities that are solely dependent on me and those I can delegate. Once I narrow down the core activities relevant to my position, I will focus more on those and avoid taking up more duties than I can handle.
- Delegating duties shows that I can trust others to handle them, that I admit to being human and have weaknesses, and reduce my workload. Seeking help by delegating duties ensures that I have on my plate only that which I can handle in a day. It also creates opportunities to guide others and mentor them into handling more challenging responsibilities.
- I can help others find meaning to their duties, better achieve their goals, or help them in other small ways. Acts of kindness rejuvenate the spirit and create better relationships at work.
- I can find ways to create personal goals and tie them to my organization’s goals. That way, any achievement I get at work is marked by personal success, and I have more drive to do my job.
- Yoga and meditation are mental and physical relaxation exercises. I will indulge more in these activities, especially in the morning, to ensure I start my workday on a positive and vibrant note.
