Subject: RE: College Information.

Hallo penny, I’m glad to hear from you.  How is high school life, hope you are coping well. I believe your brother’s wife is doing well since I have not heard from her since we both completed our high school studies. My friendship with your sister dates back to our days in high school, and we are still in touch although she chose to study in Ohio State University as I got admitted to the top university in the country, CSUSB! I’m so pleased to learn that you are interested in knowing about CSUB, which is the best place to be. We are in a great institution, with a great scenic view and a bevvy of academic and social activities. Here, there is a great variety of clubs and sports activities from which one can choose from. For the last three and a half years I have been here, I can say I had the best experience of having top professors, but this has not been without challenges here and there. I will address your questions to my best level.

From my experience and that of others, the issue of the workload is best addressed through prudent time management. On the aspect of course difficulty, I would tell you that with interest and the level of commitment. Your area of study is also a determinant of how much effort will be expected from the end. From my experience, the challenges in content grow as you grow from the first year to the last year of your studies since the content becomes advanced as you grow. However, college studies are very enjoyable here due to the levels of commitment of our professors and the whole college staff. As opposed to high school, college work is easier to manage owing to flexible schedules and plenty of time to research and consult.

As you would expect, homework is a little less as compared to high school. Most of the classes have fixed content to be covered within a semester. A combination of the fixed content and the flexible schedule, most of the courses have no or little assignments to be done. I can even disclose to you that while in our college, you manage to study and manage a part-time hustle to earn a few coins. This again would depend on your ability to balance between books and a part-time job in college. It is something I would personally advise against.

Our professors are available on schedule. Every professor has specific days and hours when students can access and consult on any issue they deem needs to be addressed. They also share their personal email address and mobile phones numbers in case one wants to communicate or book an appointment with them. I personally have not had a one on one with any of my professors, but a couple of my course mates have told me that our professors are very humane and accommodating on matters academics. On that issue, you need to be sure that you will be landing on very able and available hands at the hour of academic need.

On the issue of social networks, I will tell that social networking is on top of issues here. We created a What’s app group immediately we joined our respective major classes. In these groups, we are able to share, discuss, and seek clarifications on the issues we find not very clear. The students here in CSUSB are very social and connecting. From these groups, we are even able to organize the end of the session get together where students contribute towards the same, and we meet and have fun after exams. I remember during our second year a classmate went on maternity and we were able to organize ourselves and visit her in hospital as a class. What I have not been able to join our societies as I have very little interest in any. However, these societies exist and are vibrant. The music group is able to organize concerts every semester for all students. I have attended two guitar and jazz sessions, and I can tell if you are a lover of music, CSUB is the place to be. The debate club is equally active here

Penny, CSUB is the place to be both academically and socially, and I have a feeling that this is where you belong. I hope I have addressed your concerns adequately! Thank you, and I wish you well as you look for your dream college.
