Submission a paper to a journal for publishing
The authors can submit their works to selected a journal by following the journal submission guidelines. And to make the article just in the desired style and formatting (some journals have document templates setting out title and subtitle conventions, paragraph style, and font size and style) and the submission process.
The editors of the journal usually are dependent academic experts in the field who may be a researcher or teacher within a university.
However, the editors usually consider some various factors, including but not limited to:
– Originality of the ideas,
– Significance of the ideas,
– Quality of the writing.
The followings are the general steps about how an author can publish an article in an online journal. As online journals are becoming more dominant nowadays for academic work.
– Choosing a journal and online services.
– Choose a journal in the suitable subject area, then check out its description on the journal page.
– Then, sign up and log in as an author on the journal website, and follow the instructions to submit the manuscript to the journal, proceed to the publishing portal (if it exist).
– Checking out guidelines for manuscript preparation and filling in the copyright.
– The author should completely follow the guidelines for manuscript preparation and submission, and make the article just as the journal editor wants.
– Then, the author should download a copyright transfer agreement then fill it and collect the signatures of all co-authors. If the editor rejects the manuscript, then, the agreements will not come into force.
– Manuscript preparation and submission.
– Again, the author should check out technical requirements in the manuscript preparation guidelines, and submission, then submit, and wait for a reply from the editorial board.
– Manuscript acceptance or acceptance with revision, or rejection.
However, there are few probabilities of responses from the journal:
-Acceptance without amendment: Well done, no problem then.
– Acceptance with revisions: In this case, the editor may ask to improve the article. And the author should follow the editor’s instruction and notes carefully and resubmit, again, then send a short statement explaining or summarizing the changes that he has made.
– Rejection: In this case, the author should learn from that experience, and try with another journal.
– Publishing house confirmation, working with a galley proof, and receipt of a published article in electronic form.
The author will get an e-mail message with an approximate date that the galley proof will be sent to the authors. All necessary instructions will be attached to the e-mail message, including the receipt of a published article in electronic form, like in PDF format
Note, in this stage, the author can not make any changes in the article except the critical errors, like the errors that may occur in the author’s name or scientific data.
The importance of article publishing in the relevant Journals
The author needs to find a suitable journal to publish his article in it. But. Unfortunately, there are many fake journals and publishers ( called a predatory journal or publisher), waiting to exploit your talents.
So, the author to check will to see if the journal is fake or not, and the author should consider the reputation of the journals, like if the journal allow open access sources or not, or if the journal is indexed in the Web of Science (ISI) or not.
In-spite submission in multiple journals can be helpful, but author should not submit a manuscript more than one journal at the same time, as this action is against ethics in publishing.
Also, submission to an unsuitable journal will result in rejection, So, the author should save his time and editor’s time and choose the suitable or to most relevant journal at first.
As, in open access sources, all the visitors can free access to the research articles. This strategy begets more popularity and citations. like if a journal is indexed in the Web of Science (ISI) is used to be called an ISI journal, or indexed in SCOPUS, so it will be called SCOPUS journal. However, the highest quality peer-reviewed publications are in ISI or/and Scopus.
