Sufficiency of Samantha’s Diet
The diet that Samantha uses is sufficient to satisfy the appetite she has based on her Body Mass Index (BMI), which is higher than the normal range, which is between 18 to 22.5. However, it is critical that she works on reducing her weight to maintain a proper status of health. The recommended changes that would be appropriate to help improve her health include reducing her consumption of saturated fats and alternatively, consider taking natural fats to substitute the fibre. She needs to cut down on her consumption of carbohydrates which are above the range that is required. Her vitamin intake needs to be increased by taking as it is below the expected range. She also needs to hydrate more as her moisture intake is extremely low.
Samantha can improve on her vitamin intake by including more fruits and vegetables in her diet, increase her intake of water and fruits that have a high fluid composition to become more hydrated and increase the moisture content of her body. For instance, she could take more of milk and mountain dew soda. Also, instead of taking foods that are high in cholesterol, like vegetable oil in fast foods, that make the level of saturated fat high, she can opt for fats that are more natural like those that get found in foods like nuts. The change she can make with regard to the excessive carbohydrates she takes is by reducing the gluten intake and also reduce her intake of starchy foods in general.
If she adheres to the suggested dietary recommendation, she will be able to attain the BMI that falls within the range that is normal as she will be able to lose weight. If she fails to follow the recommendations and sticks to her current lifestyle, she risks getting lifestyle diseases like heart failure. The health of Samantha will be significantly improved if she abides by the recommended dietary guidelines.
