- The Problems
The main problem that has been presented in the article is the vulnerability of the information system. An information system is facing a lot of security threats, which may lead to the loss of data. The problem that has been presented in the article was important at the time of publication because there are many places where information technology has been embraced in various areas to make work easier. However, there has been an increase in the number of security issues facing these information systems. Therefore, the article is important as it will enlighten many people on the measures they are supposed to undertake to deal with these issues. Currently, security issues in IT are advancing; hence the article will still be important.
- The Main Idea
The main idea that has been presented in this article is the methods of applying the scheme of packet filtering rules. In this case, the packets that will be moving in the network will have to be filtered by a firewall to maintain security. This approach will ensure that an unauthorized person cannot access information that is not meant for him or her. The idea is different from the existing work at the time the paper was being published because, at that time, little had been written regarding the security of the packets as they move from one place to another over the internet. Therefore, this idea has influenced on the follow on work till now in the sense that measures have been adopted to ensure the security of the packets while they move from one place to another.
- Major Strengths
One of the strengths of this article is on the vulnerability of the information system. This issue was important at the time of publication because there are many places whereby information systems have been adopted. However, these systems are faced with security, which results in loss of data, thereby hindering their efficiency. The second important issue in this paper is the use of a firewall. Since there have been a lot of security issues, especially over the network, there has been a need to use a firewall to prevent these issues. The third important issue in this paper is to set the rules for packet filtering. This rule of the packet will prevent overflow hence reducing security risks.
- Major weaknesses
As much as there have been several strengths with the paper, there are certain weaknesses. One of these weaknesses is the failure to clearly explain the measures that can be used to implement the packet rules. The second weakness of the paper is that all the security issues facing information systems have not been identified. The third weakness that has been seen in the paper is that it has not described how the firewall can be included in the system. The follow on work that has been done show these improvements because the measures to implement the packet rules have been developed, different security issues have been thoroughly identified as well as how a firewall can be used incorporated into the system.
- Possible Improvement
The main solution to the above problems is to research further and identify more issues related to the security information systems, and this can be shown by publishing comprehensive articles that explain every aspect related to the security of information systems.
