Technology Acceptance Model
Definition and Components
The technology acceptance model is a model used to predict how a new information system is accepted and used by a user. According to the technology acceptance model, the acceptability of the new system is determined by several factors. The two factors that TAM uses are; perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Perceived usefulness refers to the extent and the degree to which individuals believe that using a system will enhance the work or daily life performance. Perceived ease of use refers to the extent to which individuals believe that using a system will be very easy and uncomplicated. The technology acceptance model suggests that the perceived usefulness and ease of use are the significant determiners to be used in the model’s predictability function.
Additionally, the two factors are controlled by other external variables. According to the technology acceptance model by Davis and other experts, the TAM model suggests that the behavioral intention of an individual can determine his use of a system. The model continues to explain that behavioral intention may be influenced by the person’s attitude towards that particular system. Davis suggests that an individual uses a system if he perceives that the system will improve his performance even if his attitude towards the system was negative.

Impacts of Technology Acceptance Model on Educational Settings
Researchers have worked very hard to have an understanding of how the technology acceptance model impacts different settings across the world. In the educational sector, the teachers are guided on the technology to use by the higher authorities, such as the national policies. Still, through the use of technology acceptance, the teachers utilize more time to perceive the technologies that will be effective for delivering the message to the students. For example, a system’s perceived usefulness will determine if a teacher will adopt the system in training the students. The attitude that a teacher has toward computer use will also directly affect computers’ usage in the classroom. The teacher’s self-efficacy becomes a great determiner because if the teacher has the computer skills, he will be comfortable to use the system in the classroom.
The technology acceptance model variable will also greatly impact the student’s use of learning systems. For example, the Perceived usefulness of systems has proven to have a significant impact on the students. The reason behind this is that when students perceive that a certain system will fit their education needs, they are likely to use the system often. The vice versa is true because if the perception is negative, then the usage and accessibility will be very low. Most of the students always prefer the easiest way of doing their things. Therefore, if the students perceive that using a certain system is not complicated, the behavioral intention will be affected because they will prefer to use that specific system. If the system has complications, the student will not adopt using it.
Research shows that the technology acceptance model has greatly affected the implementation of computer integration in various education settings. In some instances, the impacts have had negative implications whereby very expensive projects have failed due to the technology acceptance model in learning institutions.
Overview and findings of the case study
In the world that we live in, the schools that can be termed as ready are the ones that focus on learning in the digital age. This approach is very beneficial because it prepares the students for the present world and the world that will be in the future. It is undeniable that the developments that have taken place have left schools with no option other than adopting digital platforms. With all the information about the advancements and developments, it is also vital that technology-based leadership is incorporated in the education setting to improve the students’ learning processes in the digital era. The administration of schools must embrace technology leadership for them to remain relevant in the digital era. Digital leadership involves integrating digital minds, which will help bring transformations in education settings. Digital leadership is also about working smart and achieving set goals without many challenges.
The case study put much emphasis on technology leadership self-efficacy, which is basically in the context of the technology acceptance model. The technology leadership self-efficacy has a very significant impact on the integration of technology in the education process. The leadership self-efficacy also affects promoting the effective use of technology for learning, and it also affects communication with stakeholders about technology. Technology leadership has proven to have a variety of benefits, especially in this digital era. Education institutions should embrace school leadership innovations for them to run operations digitally and remain relevant in this digital era. eLearning and software for education is the way to for education settings.
