Editing and Formatting #4
Below is a sample of a student’s response to an assignmentthat asked them to:
Prepare and submit using appropriate headings, and short, concise, easy to read sentences, their end of semester experience in terms of:
- The biggest thing they learned about working in a collaborative, online environment.
- What worked really well?
- What in their process did they discover could be improved?
My experience working with a small group in a collaborative, online environment was very good. I have previously worked with the other 2 group members and I think that played a role in how successful our group was because we all knew what to expect from one another. A few things that worked well for me was setting up a schedule so I had certain times that I knew I needed to work on my portion of the assignment and coordinating that with my spouse so we could limit the amount of distractions so I was able to focus. Another thing that worked was just simply keeping in constant communication with my group, so we knew what tasks had been completed and what was still due. It can be very challenging interpreting your teammates thoughts or ideas when you cannot communicate face to face. Time management also played a major role because when I am working at home there are more distractions. One thing that could have been improved during the process was not to rely on any other group member other than myself. Once the schools shut down due to COVID-19, I should have reached out to this individual sooner to ensure they would still be helping complete the assignment. I would defiantly not make this mistake again.
