After doing the personality test, I found out that I am a Defender, ISFJ-T. The attributes of these types of personality are that they are benevolent, reliable, and patient, zealous, hardworking, and are good at hands-on artistry. On the flip side, this kind of people tend to be kind that makes them vulnerable to people easily taking advantage of that. They are also shy and often take things to themselves. I agree with all that has been about this personality. These attributes define me in terms of how I relate with people at home and other environs. I have problems meeting new people; I do not like to interact with strangers. I feel it is a lot of work trying to figure out people, and that is why I have very few friends. My family and close friends are my only treasured people in my life.

I felt attacked when I read that the defender personality people tend to procrastinate a lot. I was amused that that can be a person’s attribute. This attribute is not to say that I am not hardworking I am it is that I tend to get my deliverables done last minute. I was also amused when I saw that being a perfectionist is a trait we, defenders, tend to have, which is true. I often have to write two or more pieces of proposals/assignments because I always want to submit my best at all times. The results also showed that I am 49% extroverted. In all honesty, I expected that to be much less because I tend to shy away from crowds I am not familiar with, but with the test, I have seen I am more social than I thought I am.

From the test, I have learned a few things about myself. One, that I am more approachable and that I am reliable. Being caring is not a trait everyone has, and having that fits perfectly with the career path I am interested in as it will involve taking people’s needs and making sure that is delivered to them the way they instructed. Having learned that I can communicate with people in the workplace, I am also going to make good use of these interactions to boosting my knowledge and seeking help whenever I face one.

Consequently, now that I know my strengths and weaknesses, I will positively embrace them to make sure that they help me become a better human resource manager in the future. That is, I will be careful not to let people take advantage of my weakness, and I will learn to be more open-minded to changes. In the human resource management field, one is likely to interact with so many people who have a different perspective on matters. Therefore, being open-minded will be of help in analyzing what a company needs.

We have been studying about personality disorder (Crego & Widiger, 2020), mood disorders (Gershon & Thompson, 2020) and therapeutic orientations (Boettcher et al., 2020). All the readings have a relation to personality. For instance, in studying personality disorders, we first identified different personality types, and with the characters, we extracted personality disorders. Relating my results to this week’s unit readings, I think taking the personality test was needed for a better understanding of personality disorders. That is, the evaluation and the explanations provided have given better insights on personality traits. Being a defender, I am in a better position to help a person with, for instance, a mood disorder because I am supportive, loyal, and patient. The three attributes are relevant to helping someone dealing with a disorder.
