The 9/11 Attack

Introduction and Background

The 11th September 2001 attack has gone done down in history as one of the worst terrorist attacks to have been witnessed. The attack that has since been associated with the Al Qaeda terrorist group came as a surprise and changed the perception of the world towards peace in the US and the world in general. Fear spread across the world because the US had been viewed as the strongest power in the world. The less powerful nations had difficulties assuring peace to their citizens, and terrorism was viewed as a global disaster that needs collaborative efforts for an entire wipe out. The terrorist attack had far-reaching impacts both on the policies in the US as well as international the suffering on top of the loss of innocent lives that were witnessed during the attack. The study will aim at assessing whether the US has completely healed from the impacts of the 9/11 attack and what steps are being undertaken to avoid a repeat of a similar event.

Literature Review

The US security policies have been on a transformation spree after the terrorist attack. The people of America had a right to be promised their safety by the government, and changing the policies was supposed to be one of the moves (Jackson, n. p). However, the improvement of the existing rules was not the only effort made by the government. New policies were developed to deal with the terrorism menace, and the efforts have been ongoing to date. The efforts included collaborating with other powers to come up with policies that would ensure that extremism was dealt with and that the protection of Americans applied even to the Americans in other parts of the world.

The investment environment in the US took an abrupt shift towards the negative direction with investors losing significantly due to the uncertainties created by the attack (Ostrom, Kraitzman, Newman & Abramson, 314). The reputation that had been created concerning the military strength of America and hence the safety of America being assured was suddenly put to the test and investors had to rethink on the decision to choose America as an investment destination. Therefore, the attack generally affected the economy of the US significantly.

Research Methodology

Data to be analyzed in the study should be reliable and authentic. Therefore, the Americans who have been in America will be the most important subjects. Surveys will be done to assess the reaction of the Americans as well as the opinions held by Americans concerning the position of America in the fight against extremism. After the surveys have been done, analysis will be done on the data collected to come with conclusions that will be useful in assessing the efforts put towards the fight against terrorism. Also, secondary data will be analyzed for comparison purposes and to ensure that the data collected is not biased.

Conclusion

In sum, the 9/11 attack has been a significant happening in the history of America. The attack led to several changes and improvements in the security policies in the US. The study will aim at assessing how the healing process has been ongoing in the US and whether the US has completely healed from experience.
