THE AMERICAN DREAM
The American dream is a national essence of the United States of America, the perfection (republic, fairness, freedom, chance, and non-discrimination) in which privilege includes the opportunity for welfare and victory, as well as an uphill social strength for the household and children, acquired through working hard in a community with little hindrance. In simple, it is the dream in which everyone should be in a position to receive a better, fuller, and more prosperous life, with a chance for everyone according to ability or fulfillment. In current America, the American dream has been attained in some ways and as not also been attainable in other ways. In my discussion, I will raise my arguments based on how the American dream has worked and how it hasn’t worked in different ways.
With the introduction of “no taxation without representation” by the declaration of independence, it meant that the government of the united state would operate under democracy where the people elect leaders for the people. The elected leaders must stick to all laws and should not impose taxes without reasons. Disputes should also be solved by a body of people and not the opinion of the leader, and therefore a declaration of independence states that a nation must be allowed to trade freely. With free trade, an attractive community was set for those who hoped for a better life as it was believed by the founding fathers as a principle in the American dream that the best ways to ensure the nation’s progression are to protect the citizens right to improve their lives.
The American dream has been a motivating factor to the long term prosperity for American people, especially with the attractiveness to the anticipated success, which has brought a lot of immigrants to America looking for equal opportunities and better life. Some of the American dreams have shown up in current America, which includes; support for free trade agreements and culture, acceptance of government protection of private enterprise, promotion of free flow of information, and trust in a free market economy where people are free to interact.
The vision of founders that everyone has an equal right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of one’s happiness as part of the American dream, has gone hand in hand with the declaration of independence. It foresters a belief in a free enterprise where people create and own their businesses that operate without control of the government. It entertains a free market economy where goods, prices, and services are decided by the market and not the government, therefore giving everyone equal chance to create wealth whenever they feel it’s right in current America.
Currently, in America, the president, and the secretary of housing and urban developments suggests that the owning of beautiful homes and a roaring business is part of the American dream. However, in the 1930s, it meant freedom, mutual respect, and equality of opportunities.it had more to do with morality than material success. Therefore the construction of expensive houses as it is in America was not part of American dream according to mr adam in 1931 in his book “the epic of America” where he insisted of ideal rather than material goods.he also clarified that, “it is not a dream of motor cars and high wages merely, but a dream of a social order in which each man and woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable, and recognized by others for what they are.” therefore it is an evidence that the construction of expensive homes is not supported by the American dream.
To wind up, has urged in my above discussion it can be concluded that the American dream has been supported in some ways in current America and on the other hand it has failed to work in the same America.therfore in some ways it still exists in America and on other ways it doesn’t exist.
