The Attack on Pearl Harbor from the Perspective of Franklin D. Roosevelt

In this research project, I will examine the “attack on Pearl Harbor from President F.D. Roosevelt’s point of view.” Many historians have studied the attack on Pearl Harbor as a historical and a landmark event on America’s foreign policy. Historically, the United States maintained isolationism policy on international affairs despite its slight involvement that ended the First World War. Although other superior nations, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy involved in the Second World War, the United States remained isolated until the attack of the Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. Notably, Japan was also a crucial player in WWII as an ally of Italy and the Germans. Before entering into the war, the United States was in constant negotiation with the Japanese Empire to end conflict prevailing in the Pacific, mainly because of oil embargoes. Besides all these negotiations and peace agreement, I am surprised to witness such a magnitude attack by the Japanese, and because of this, I declare that “this day will live infamy.” Also, I will declare war against my current enemy, the Japanese and all their allies. This attack has killed many Americans, and I must revenge because I believe that Americans are aware of what such an attack means to their security. Although the Americans maintained isolationism, did the attack on Pearl Harbor influence their modern-day foreign policy, and it is becoming a superpower nation?
