The Beatles were a rock and pop band that originated from England in 1960. The band comprised of Ringo Starr, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney. The band was considered to be the most influential group because it played an important role in the 1960s counterculture development and made music to be recognized as an art. Grounded in the 1950s beat and skiffle, their music sound integrated traditional pop and classical music. The Beatles’ musical style ranged from hard rock, psychedelia, Indian music, and ballads. The band incorporated many aspects into the music industry and were often referred to as leaders of the socio-cultural movement and youth leaders of that era. The band song “Strawberry Fields Forever” set the fascinating tune and form for hallucinogenic rock that was a major influence on other bands and musicians. The Beatles’ brave musical exploration has hugely contributed to the evolution of rock music, which has inspired many artists until today. The Beatles influenced the Rolling Stones both visually and musically.
The Rolling Stones are an English rock band that formed in 1962. The group used the Chicago blues style to generate an outstanding image of the gloomy side of the post-1960s counterculture. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards originally formed the Rolling Stones to explore their love for R&B and Blues. The band created their signature sound by blending rock and blues. The Rolling Stones band was open to incorporate various subjects in their song composition.
Both groups influenced other artists with their rock songs that incorporated skillful beats, attractive melodies, guitar work, and remarkable lyrics. The Beatles were likely to create pop songs that had a Liverpudlian Merseyside sound in the early 1960s.On the other hand, the Rolling Stones followed a harder and rougher sounding path in their song composition. I prefer the path taken by the Rolling Stones because the band used the Chicago blues style to generate an outstanding image of the gloomy side of the post-1960s counterculture. The group was also open to singing about subjects that were termed taboo like sex, drugs, violence, and relationships. Some of the musicians that followed the Rolling Stones’ path include; white stripes band and Metallica.
