The continued evolution of health care makes evidence-based practice (EBP) a core component of the nursing practice. Stakeholders or public communication of evidence-based findings provide nurses with a platform for sharing knowledge with other health care professionals. The dissemination of the EBP and research findings can be done through various methods, including local and national nursing journals and conferences. However, the choice of the media used to communicate EBP and research outcomes depends on the target audience’s location.
Nursing bodies, both nationally and locally, maintain several professional journals that provide nurses with a platform for disseminating and accessing relevant information. At the national level, the National Diabetes Association (NDA) Journal provides the best platform for disseminating the findings of the proposed evidence-based intervention- culturally competent diabetes self-management education. On the other hand, the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) conference is the optimal platform for disseminating the findings of the proposed nursing intervention.
The selection of the NDA Journal as the most suitable print medium for presenting the EBP and research findings is informed by its popularity among nurses and other health care stakeholders. The NDA journal serves as a repository for diabetes information and statistics in the United States. Thus, it is an effective platform for communicating the outcomes of the proposed intervention and engaging with all types of type 2 diabetes stakeholders. The AADE conference – which is held annually – targets diabetes educators – pharmacists, nurses, peer educators, and dietitians – looking to enhance their knowledge and skills. As such, the conference is an essential platform for sharing clinical knowledge obtained from EBP and research on the efficacy of culturally competent diabetes self-management education in addressing the scourge of type 2 diabetes in Harvey’s black community.
