The coronavirus

The coronavirus has wreaked havoc across the globe, paralyzing almost every sector of the economy. Amongst the most hit is the education sector, with 99% of the learning institution closed across the world (Viner et al., 2020). Closure of learning institutions due to the novel coronavirus has brought about some effects that teachers have to deal with heads on.

As a teacher, I might deal with several issues arising from the devastating impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. One of the problems I will face is a delay in the syllabus, a direct effect of school closure. Also, I might be forced to deal with personal children issues such as trauma that might have developed during the COVID-19 period.  At the individual level, I may face financial problems due to unpaid leave, change in lifestyle, unhealthy dieting, etc.

Working as a teacher, I will have to devise ways to promote healthy development in the children. I will have to access children’s basic needs, such as food, shelter, clothing, and health care, inside and outside school, an act that will promote healthy living and development in the children (Catalano et al., 2004). As a teacher, I will also have to capitalize on essential resources that will enable all students to continue learning, such as zoom and other online learning platforms. Also, I will mail assignments to the children and direct parents on what the learners should do. With all this, health development in all spheres will transpire.
