The culture of employees not interested in discussions and meetings

Q1

The culture of employees not interested in discussions and meetings indicate that those employees see themselves as better than what they are given to perform. The employees may be given some tasks to accomplish in a meeting and decide to ignore because of their culture, which they think it does not allow them. Additionally, employees may not be interested in meetings and discussions because of their culture, which does not allow teamwork. Conference and discussions are made for sharing ideas concerning the project and come up with solutions for the difficult tasks which people may face in their workplace. However, some employees are not interested in teamwork, and this makes them avoid meetings and discussions.

Another reason for the existence of a culture of employees who are not interested in meetings is the perception of their age groups. For instance, Phil Davis told Tim that the average age of the employees in the organization range at 46 years and this might be the reason the employees resent the calls for meetings. Some employees do not believe in having a leader who is young than them, and this makes them ignore what the project manager tells them because they think they have more experience than the person.

Q2

Tim faces different challenges in his position as the project manager. One of the problems is communication issues. Tim explained to Phil that he has continually explained to his team members on the need for communicating when a problem arises, but there is none of the members is willing to talk. Another problem Tim faces is the management of the expectations of the team members. Tim argued that they had a scheduled test, and there was no member available to attend. Tim expected that the team members could be ready and available to participate in the meeting, but unfortunately, members could give excuses concerning their busy schedule during that period.

The problems with the team members affect the project manager’s plan to execute the project. The success of a project depends on the efforts of the team members to achieve it. However, Tim argues that he has been inviting members for a meeting, which will ensure there is the completion of the projects ahead in time, but all the members seem to be reluctant. Corporate problems are another challenge that Tim is facing. There have been some cultural issues that hinder efficient working in the team. Tim realized that the culture of the employees is more important than the work because it is difficult to change their decisions.

Q3

Tim should focus on improving communication between him and the other employees. Clarity, effectiveness, and low communication help project manager to solve any problem that arises in the office. Tim should help his employees to know how to communicate with him and voice out their challenges.

Tim should tell his employees what he expects them to do and not plead. Most of the employees working under Tim also take their issues more seriously than their work. Some of the workers walk of meeting even before Tim concludes because they do not want to risk missing their evening bosses. Tim also explains that when they have a crucial meeting, most of the employees will miss. Some workers would give excuses that they have vacations to attend.

The manager should be friendly to their employee so that he can always detect if there is a problem in the office. Tim complains that his workers do not share their problems with him even when he can tell they have a challenge in the office. Additionally, Tim should also motivate his workers to encourage them to take their job more seriously.

Q4

Work-life balance involves the balance which the employee needs between the allocated time for work and other life aspects. The areas of life consist of leisure activities, family, and personal growth. The work-life balance is essential in the person’s life because of several roles which it plays in the day-to-day tasks of the employee.
