Among the essential aspects of human interactions is based on communication. For the proper passing of information and instructions, it is vital to have adequate communication skills. Communication is, therefore, a significant skill for every person. Kavlak and Tekin explain that “communication is the transmission of information from one person to another, and depends on whether both communicators can send and receive messages” (2019). Passing and receiving information is thus a significant aspect for every individual. It is, therefore, significantly crucial that children are taught the art of communication at a young age. When children are born, it is vital to ensure that they receive the best training possible that will ensure they grow to be adults who can pass information correctly, and further relate with other humans. Nurturing communication skills is, therefore, a fundamental role for every parent and teacher in the learning sphere. Excellent communication skills are essential since they make the interaction process for everyone. Bad communication skills are a product of inadequate nurturing, and such people have a difficult time relating to the rest. Additionally, it is also difficult to communicate with a person with poor communication skills, among the significant setbacks of successful nurturing of communication include, mental disability, and physical disability. The Nurturing communication process is a systematic method that ensures the effective transfer of information from one person to the other in a way that guides and transforms the learner.
Children are born without the ability to communicate sense to adults. I, however, feel that children communicate in their unique way through crying and even giggling sometimes. Children must be taught how to talk to ensure that by the time they are adults, they can easily pass information. I observed that children are receptive to the kind of words they hear, and they copy fast depending on the aspect of communication of the adults around them. It is also the reason why children can learn the first language quickly with minimal challenge. I think that parents have a huge responsibility towards the communication skills of their children, being the child’s most immediate adult, it is essential that they grow and direct the child’s knowledge towards being able to pass information correctly. I, therefore, agree that a child’s communication skill is more related to their young age nurturing more than it is affected by older age learning.
Mental and physical disabilities are significant hindrances towards the communication skill of a person. I noticed that children, as well as adults with impairments have a hard time keeping communication. The impairments either made receiving or sending messages impossible. Having either of those impaired significantly affects how a person communicates. Such disabilities could include impairments such as visual or hearing. A person with a hearing impairment will not be able to receive audio information. This is because they will not be able to receive any audio messages. “Hearing impairments speech perception and development affect verbal and written language” (Kavlak and Tekin, 2019). Hearing is a very important tool when it comes to communication and therefore without it, communication is incomplete. Likewise, a person with a visual impairment will not be able to get visual messages from other people. Kavlak and Tekin assert that “visual impairments could affect language development and interpersonal interaction (2019). Not having the ability to see messages is an impairment that causes communication challenging. I therefore agree that communication is hindered by impairments and can cause total lack of communication. Finally, cognitive disability might also be a great cause for mental disability, such is because the brain is responsible for converting messages to a form that can make us give feedback. When a person is mentally impaired, then they cannot communicate effectively. Cognitive incapability is a major reason for people being poor in communication as well as being unable to learn any communication skills in the case for children. I feel that cognitive incapability is a big issue and regardless of technological innovations little can be done to nurture communication for people suffering from the same.
Good communication is essential for children to build their careers on and more so to ensure that they get assistance on different issues as they are growing up. Good communication both in speaking and writing is key in ensuring that humans have the needed relation ability with other humans. It is therefore the work of teachers and parents to make sure that children and students respectively have the best communication skills to make them excel in life. I feel that among the most important skills that a person should have is being able to communicate and getting feedback from different individuals. Also, the social element is very essential as children are able to learn literacy in writing and reading through social interactions. (William, 1993). Social interactions are an important part of nurturing communication because they prepare the learner to relate with different people outside their comfort zone. Additionally, communication is a survival technique that humans can use to talk themselves out of trouble. For this reason, nurturing communication is significant in everyday life.
Communication is an important element in the everyday interactions of humans. Nonetheless, it is important that human also understand that being able to nurture it in young children as well as in some adults is more important. Despite the many challenges towards the creating essential communication skills in children, it is very vital that they learn to express themselves and also read messages from different people altogether. I feel that with more work, communication can be made easier and also through the same there can be less conflicts. Good communication is essential in making lasting impressions and it is through the same that people find friends for a lifetime as well as partners. Communication is an integral part of human interactions, and it should be treated with the equal dignity.
