What roles did the following entities play in the fictional story told by activist Rania O in 2084?
Oil
Oil plays a significant role in that by 2084; the world would be fully modernized with the third world countries upgrading to first world countries. Many people will have access to motor vehicles, which would be both a necessity and a luxury. The oil will be one of the universal exports between countries.
The US dollar
The US dollar will still be the common currency for trade since most countries will not have surpassed its value This although will be challenged by countries like Russia and China who have proven to some extent to be more technological and innovative than the United States
Social and Transition forums
Social and Transition forums are society game-changers in 2084. They symbolize change in the near future. By 2084, Rania predicts that nearly every sector of the economy would have transitioned to better ways of working. Example, the power currently is still not considered to be sustainable. So, according to the transition forums, the power would have changed to clean power. This is enabled by wind and solar energy which are considered sustainable and less harmful to the world and its inhabitants. Also, more Transition would occur in dressing methods and cooking methods whereby those not able to access clean, energy-saving cooking methods will do so. According to Rania, this will immensely reduce the rates of pollution, which is severe in our current times.
General strikes
The role of the general strikes was to give evidence that the world was evolving, and people now knew their rights. With every person having knowledge on this, then the future would be a better place with cases like racial discrimination and police brutality being reduced to none. Workers would be paid what they deserve, Criminals how they are treated, and generally everyone knowing what to do and how to do it.
The shift
The shift from analog to digital also symbolizes change and modernity. No process will include paperwork, and every human being’s information would be in the country’s database. Every single information including last purchases, current location, transactions among others. This will be made possible by introduction of microchips in every human beings brain. The microchips will be very sleek and highly technological. For one to have their basic necessity or be able to buy and sell , this will be a must as this will be passed as a law in almost all the countries in agreement with the shift. Also, most industries will opt to develop robots that will pioneer production in various countries.
Likely hood of changes made by Rania O happening
On a scale of one to ten, Seven. The reason is that we are going through a technological phase, and it is highly likely that the modernization of third and second world countries will occur. In addition to that, the world will be reduced to an even smaller global village with innovations being launched. Internet would be faster, the wireless connection being a reality to almost everyone, cars will also be innovated and be more sustainable, nearly all buildings will be high rise buildings
Roles played by inequality in society’s tendency toward rigidity.
The society is not willing to accept change and to fully acknowledge that everyone is equal. This is brought about the fact that one race or group of people is superior to the rest and failure to do or think that will end up to the ‘superior’ group losing what they have.
State of Costa Rican society
Costa Rica, like any other country, has the wealthy, middle-class, and poor. This though, is different from other countries since it has a substantial professional middle-class and almost equal wealth distribution among the citizens; hence the gaps between the different classes are not big. Although not fully stated, Costa Rica has low poverty, and unemployment rates rated to be about 10%, which is quite low compared to its counterparts. The poverty rates are at a stable rate of 20%, which the government is formulating method to reduce the current rates( the country has been ranked fourth among developing nations which are eradicating poverty). Costa Rica is below the United States since the US is ranked first in the world, with an expenditure rate of close 7 trillion. This is about three hundred and fifty times the rate of expenditure of Costa Rica, whose budget is roughly seven billion dollars. In terms of education and healthcare, Costa Rica again falls below the united states, given that the united states have advanced medical facilities leave alone education. The country invests in multibillion health projects and equipment that are used in the country. The education system is also rated to be one of the best worldwide.
Being that the rate of population in Costa Rica is 64% more than the united states, not much is expected. The GDP per capita in Costa Rica is about eleven thousand dollars per capita, while in the United States, it falls slightly below forty-six thousand dollars per capita. This difference explains the rates of poverty in Costa Rica. The number of those falling into the wealthy category. GDP in the US is much higher than Costa Rica, with the country having close to seventeen million millionaires.
