The global climate is changing, not for the best but the worst. Today, the temperatures are higher than they used to be. According to NASA, global temperatures have increased by 1.62-degree Fahrenheit since the 19th century. Due to the global climate change taking place, some countries such as Egypt have been hit with extreme temperatures resulting in the death of some people. The ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica are melting because of the increased global temperatures (Hassol et al., 2009). Melting ice sheets indicate that the ocean level will increase, displacing some of the people living by the beach. Countries that had regular seasons such as those in the equatorial region are now experiencing different weather patterns throughout the year. The pattern has been broken and replaced by longer periods of drought and a few periods of rain, which has led to an increase in food instability.
I strongly feel that the activities of man largely cause the distraction of the global climate. In the 20th century, man increased the carbon footprint, which has caused a lot of damage to the climate (Semenov & Stratonovitch, 2010). Somehow, the use of non-reusable fuel has spread to all parts of the world and is being used in our everyday lives.
Technology advancement that has taken place in the world can be used to reduce the carbon footprint made by industries and other human activities around the world. Today, companies that house data centers are making huge carbon footprint. Using technology, companies that are running data centers should adopt the use of nuclear energy or green energy to cool the servers in the data center rather than using non-reusable energy. Google has integrated a cooling system for its servers that uses water to cool its servers. The water cooling technology is highly effective and does not make any carbon footprint on the environment.
