The implementation of nursing interventions d
Introduction (100 words)
The implementation of nursing interventions does not occur in a vacuum. A wide range of stakeholders – internal and external – are involved in the polishing, sensitization, and the roll-out of clinical changes. The transfer of change ownership to stakeholders depends on how well it is sold or explained to the stakeholders. Most stakeholders want to be part of a change project that is realistic, practical, feasible, and clinically significant. There are several ways to win the confidence of stakeholders. However, presenting preliminary findings of the change project through a formal setting has the potential to raise the interests and support of the stakeholders. Last week’s meeting with my course preceptor focused on professional presentations as a tool for presenting findings to various level of stakeholders. The session helped highlight some of the areas of the professional presentations that I was naturally good at designing and those that required extra efforts. For instance, I got the format of the presentation right on my first trial. However, I crowded the slides with a lot of information which made them look untidy and poorly designed. I look forward to learning how best to combine pictures, diagrams, and speaker notes to make my presentations tidy, appealing and informative. Moreover, we looked into various challenges that may derail the implementation of the evidence-based change proposal and possible remedies to rectify the problem. For instance, poor monitoring and evaluation of the change process and inadequate allocation of resources have the potential to affect the smooth implementation project. The first challenge will be addressed by evaluating the clinical significance of the nursing intervention throughout the implementation process and taking corrective measures where necessary. On the other hand, the second challenge will be solved by making use of the resource calendar to optimize the allocation of financial and material resources.
