Human resource management is a vital tool in any organization that is working toward achieving its objectives. I agree that I also had the notion that HR was only involved in hiring the right employees and firing them until I went through the class. However, I now acknowledge that it is more than hiring people. Human resource management also aims to manage the employees’ behavior to ensure that they perform at their best levels to achieve the firm’s general objective. Besides, HR aims to promote a good relationship between the workers and their employers and the managers. Other HR functions include training and development of workers, carrying out job analysis, and offering compensation and benefits to the workers.
After reading through this chapter, I realized the importance of human resource management in ensuring a company’s success. For instance, through training the workers, they become more confident and thus proud of their work. Thus, their morale tends to be uplifted, and they work harder, hence increasing their organization’s productivity. Also, HR ensures that only the right employees who fit for the task are hired and therefore avoid negligence in work. The organization can build its reputation from employees working excellently, making customers want to trade with them more often.
