The Information Systems Revolution
The information system has played a significant role in the Amazon, the leading online retailer company in the world through computing services. One of the functions of the information system on the success of Amazon is that it enabled Amazon to facilitate online shopping and tracking of the order. The management information system allows consumers to view products that have been purchased by their close network, making it easier for them to choose what they want to buy (Demir, 2017). The information system also saves the history of the previous products purchased by the consumer; therefore, when he or she wants such products, it becomes more natural to trace. Information system allows Amazon to acquire the shipment address of the customer, making the online delivery process successful (Demir, 2017). Consumers are requested to offer the address where the good must be delivered. However, in some case, the customer’s order directly from the company, and through the information system, the company knows where to deliver the product from the address saved during the registration time.
Amazon uses Netscape Secure Commerce Server to ensure the safety of the confidential information the customer shares about their debit card or credit card during payment. The information system allows the customers to make half of the amount online, and the rest of the payment is made on deliverance through post order (Demir, 2017). Information system helps consumers of Amazon products to track the shipping process through logging into the website of the company and inserting the unique order number of their products. The ability that the consumer has of tracking their product is one-way Amazon improves the confidence of the consumers in the company (Demir, 2017). Therefore, more people will prefer the company since it offers tangibility in the services, which eventually result in the success of Amazon.
