Any business depends on the efficiency and competence of its employees, and the satisfaction of the workers influences this in the workplace. Therefore, to determine the levels of satisfaction of workers with their occupations, ‘The Job Descriptive Index facilitates this action. The employees must express the factors that determine their job satisfaction so that it can satisfy the requirement. The essential aspects elaborated on The Job Description Index include job happiness, work quality, wages, incentives for advancement, and supervision (McIntyre, & McIntyre, 2010). Going to work for most individuals often feels as if it is a punishment or a burden they have to deal with each day, but the main reason is that they are not satisfied with their jobs, and their inspiration for that occupation was an external motivation.
As for me, it begins with being satisfied with the job itself because that means I am doing the role out of passion, self-drive, and also enjoy performing the task. My parent’s answer might differ from mine because, to them, regardless of whether they are satisfied with the job or not, it does not matter provided they get paid. This is because factors such as children and bills to take care of, food, and lack of another immediate job make them reconsider their facets in the workplace. Understanding these different facets determining the satisfaction of employees is essential when motivating different employees because it allows me to view situations from different perspectives. Also, advocating individuals to love what they are doing and do what they are passionate about because the other factors will fall in order with this kind of motivation.
