A good number of community programs must have recorded great success due to the strategies of implementation and the underlying components. All the interventions are designed for a particular need with the aim of correcting faults and restoring the community members to standard life. One of the most successful community programs is the Multidimensional Treatment Foster Care(MTFC) for Adolescents. It is a behavioral treatment program that places focus on the treatment of behavior among adolescents with delinquency, chronic antisocial behavior, and emotional imbalance.

It is designed based on the Social Learning theory. I chose this program because it has been rated and tested based on a randomized controlled trial. The behavioral intervention activities administered under this project include parental and life skills training, academic and psychotic management, and support.

The program’s strength lies in its three components. The first component is the MTFC parents that is a project meant to place the youth in a family setup with foster parents for a period of six to nine months where trained parents teach, support, and mentor the teens as part of the treatment. The parents also are expected to offer close behavioral supervision and coordinate any other designated treatment. They make reports and recommendations where necessary. The foster parents are entitled to a monthly salary. The second component of the program is the family. In this case, the birth family of the youth is trained on parenting which includes, how to discipline, encourage, and, most specifically, how to use behavioral management systems to streamline behavior. The family is also taught how to receive back their children, reduce conflict, and improve the relationship among its members. The last component is the treatment team. The program is made up of a team that is lead by the team supervisor responsible for providing the necessary support. The above three components are designed to work together in unison to ensure that youths learn to behave well in the social context and their daily dealings.

The AVANCE family support and education program are also one of the successful community-based programs designed to support family units. The program targets low-income families, single parents, and two parents from rule areas and urban communities and mostly with underage kids. It offers training on child neglect and abuse, child education problems, social support, adulthood basics, personal and community development, and economic issues to make sure they are strong enough to handle social and economic challenges. The program has been able to record a spectacular outreach to families through its highly specialized personal who can provide top-notch training and services to the clients.

The strength of the programs lies in its competent staff. The projects have always been lucky to have hired a team with a real sense of community service. The way they look for and treat their clients with dignity and respect, making the program more likable. The top management and the advisory board are made up of the families in the community making. AVANCE has also developed a personal curriculum that is followed by the staff and used to train new staff. Another key strength is on its collaboration attributed to a formal and informal relationship between AVANCE and the surrounding communities, including schools, medical providers, among other community agencies. This is a crucial boost to all services they provide in terms of gains trust, reaching out, and administering key programs.

The Roberto Clemente center in New York is another community-based program that has succeeded over a couple of decades. The above program is targeting Latino speakers and the NY community and considerably offers support to low-income families and immigrants who cannot afford access to proper medical care. It’s part of the entire New York health systems which incorporate clinic for the metal patient and rehabilitation facilities to patients with psychiatric difficulties. The program also offers HIV primary care and customized family therapy suitable for immigrants and poor people in the urban.

The key strength that contributes to the success of the program includes the location. Being centrally place in the community helps the center to avail accessible services. It has therefore been a significant training ground for social work students and a reference point for members of the city. The staff facilitating the delivery of services under this program are well behaved and trained. They are well knowledgeable on the underlying culture and practices; hence they can provide customized services suitable for the community. The program has a keen interest in the wellbeing of the community; therefore, they with data collection and analysis programs, they have been able to improve services and ethical leadership. Apart from all the above, the ability and interest in collaborating with other underlying agencies is a key strength. Apart from all this the center offers specialized training on humanities courses to enable the marginalized to earn college-level credits that are part of the life-changing efforts.

Conclusion

I selected the above programs based on the fact that they have been so impactive to our communities over a longer period. All of them share some common aspects of strength and strategies they may not have been mentioned in their analysis. The strengths include being appropriate, flexible, and innovative and culturally impactful to the communities in the subject. Another critical strength catting across is the affordability of all of them. Being accountable also is a crucial factor in strengthening the success journey of all the above programs. The programs are responsible to the community, government, and their source of funding. Finally, it should be noted that without being accessible, the programs would not be impactful as they are. All of the above are located at the center of the community, thereby offering ease of access.
