The organization, The Helping Hand
The organization, The Helping Hand, seeks to make life simpler for homeless families in the streets of the united states. The organization is a nonprofit that majorly depends on philanthropic donations to fund most of its activities. The organization seeks to help all homeless individuals within their reach. The organization, therefore, endeavors to deal with some of the challenges that the homeless face on a day to day basis. Homeless people desire organizations that help by feeding them, clothing them, offering medical services to promote their health (O’Flaherty, 2011). The Helping Hand organization also endeavors to empower the homeless individuals that in the long run, they can be able to get themselves a place to stay. Empowerment is done by offering them the support that they can get some income to which they are taught on how to save so that ultimately, they can get out of the streets (O’Flaherty, 2011). The organization also is significantly interested in promoting their psychological well being and mental health where the need is to ensure that their lives become better.
The organization has been in existence since 2010 and has grown significantly in the way in its scope. The organization has increased the number of programs that it offers over time, with more efficiency being achieved. The program started as a feeding program for the homeless but now has moved on from feeding to clothing, health, and education. The two unique programs of the organization are on mental health and psychological well being as well as the empowerment program that gives the individuals insights on how they can best operate to reduce homelessness in the long run (O’Flaherty, 2011). In the empowerment program, the organization assists individuals in securing some income either through jobs or small businesses, especially in the area of services. The individuals are also taught how they can achieve long term benefits by teaching them a saving culture, and finally, they overcome homelessness.
