The Pocket Project
The items displayed, a phone, keys, a USB cable, sunglasses, flash drive, and mouthwash are not only the most exciting but essential objects in my daily life. In this activity, my primary goal was to come up with an intriguing image by successfully employing the elements and principles of art and design in a photograph displaying the contents of my backpack.
According to (Cite), elements and principles of art are essential tools in the visual arts. My photograph has, to the least, adopted these tools. The most pronounced element in the image is color, from the background to the specific colors of the objects. Color variation in this image creates interest, and to an extent, generates emotions.
Another element that is of importance in this image is texture. When viewing the background, there is a sensation of its roughness. The texture in the image can be interpreted as tactile to induce contrast in the picture. Working concurrently is the principle of emphasis as attention is mostly drawn to the central object. The high distinction from the image indicates the most dominant object, my phone, as focal.
Lastly, there is an element of shape as the objects are arranged in a circular manner with my phone as the central piece. The shape is a geometric or abstract impression defined in a closed contour. The element of shape has, arguably, been reinforced by the principle of radial balance symmetry from the arrangement of the contents. This principle has allowed some aspects of visual equilibrium by creating a unified image.
The phone is, indeed, an essential piece in my backpack. It holds all my personal information, contacts, and a tool for social interactions. Additionally, the USB cable goes along with the phone to keep me online. I am always attentive to my personal hygiene, and as a result, I always carry with me a mouthwash. My flash drive and keys are bare necessities that I take with me in case I need them. As for the sunglasses, they are a matter of fashion and protection from sunlight.
As a person within iterates, anyone who views my compositions may conclude that I am a minimalist. My collection only includes essentials and bare necessities. It would be fair to interpret that I am organized, realistic, and I like to play safe. There is also an element of style in my composition. A good critic would also construe that the piece is most probable of an urban person living in the 21st century.
