The Prince by Machiavelli
From his chapter “The Prince,” Machiavelli wanted to give an unsentimental analysis between the relationship between actual human behavior and power. The philosopher applied Plato and Aristotle’s philosophical ideas, where these great thinkers were concerned with the issues of happiness and justice. He explained on how rulers can use power to retain control and conquer new power new states. Rather than basing advising rulers to use ethical or philosophical principles to bring justice in the society. I found Machiavelli’s ideas sides with the political program, and I would agree with Machiavelli’s thoughts that the state should ensure order and peace for its people. He added that power should be used to defend injustices rather than self-interest. I think through “The Prince,” Machiavelli tried to show a clear break from the Western tradition to modern political philosophy in which people reflect on the truth and truth only.
