It is vital to ensure that health care organization, as well as facilities, comply with these ethical standards while running their day-to-day operations in treating patients. Health care executives are expected to develop and maintain good ethical standards to ensure that patients receive safe and quality care. They are required to adhere to the Code of ethics that outline the necessary value and practices. The objective of this paper is to discuss the results of Ethics Self-Assessments, analyze personal ethical beliefs and values and provide a personal philosophy of ethical leadership.

The results after conducting the Ethics Self-Assessments from the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and the Project Management Institute (PMI) indicate the values that healthcare professionals. Healthcare executives are required to abide with the Code of ethics which provide a specific standard of behavior to guide their professional relationships. For instance, the results from the assessments show that an effective leader should take courageous and consistent management actions in order to overcome certain obstacles experienced in a healthcare organization. While some healthcare executives place community and patient benefits over their personal gains, it is important to provide services to the community without discrimination. Striving to be a role model of ethical behavior in leadership is an essential thing that healthcare executives need to emulate. It is revealed that healthcare professionals should devote their time to providing solutions to health problems that arise in the community. When providing services to patients, it is ethical to respect the practices as well as the customs of the diverse patient population at the same time maintaining the healthcare organization’s mission.

According to my personal ethical beliefs and values, working in a healthcare organization requires to adhere to the standard of behavior that helps to develop an environment where all the decisions that are made reflect the established rules and regulations. This enables the organization to reduce cases of ethical dilemma and issues that can hinder the provision of quality care to the patients. As a healthcare professional, my primary commitment is to the patient. This ethical value enables me to give priority to the patient’s interests. It is important to analyze personal and professional ethical values and those of other health care team members, as well as patient’s values. I am committed to promoting health and safety for the patients and the community by ensuring that I examine potential health problems in the community while providing solutions.

As a healthcare professional, my duty is to create a moral environment for the patients and community where respect, dignity for life, honesty, and fairness prevail. To achieve this, I incorporate both individual and collective efforts to improve the ethical environment that reflects safe and quality care for the patients. Virtues such as patience. Honesty, knowledge, courage, skill, compassion and altruism are important to adhere to the standards of ethical behavior.

My personal philosophy of ethical leadership is based on the acceptance of diversity. Today, there are several cultures with different values and beliefs, which require a leader to put into consideration while making a decision. As a leader, I must explore the organizational beliefs, vision, team motivations in order to accomplish the perceived vision successfully and professionally. When making decisions for the organization, I must act ethically to ensure that they do not violate the rights of employees. I make sure that I lead people ethically, by treating both patients and community with fairness, honesty and respect at all times. To provide ethical practices in the organization, I try to become ethically sensitive as well as culturally competent. As a leader in the organization, I listen to the employees closely to respond to their matters and include them in the process of decision making.

In conclusion, it is important for healthcare executives to comply with the ethical standards of behavior to ensure that health care organizations and facilities provide safe, as well as quality care for the patients. Healthcare professionals should exercise ethical behavior while attending to patients and providing services to the community.
