The Rugged Mountain Ranges in the United Arab Emirates
The United Arab Emirates is home to attractive mountain ranges. One of the UAE’s mountain ranges is the famous Al Hajar mountain range, which coverers the eastern part of UAE. The Al Hajar Mountain occupies an area of about 700 kilometers through the UAE and Oman. The mountain range is found on the northeastern side of the Arabian extending out to the Musandam Peninsula all the way to the eastern part of the Oman coast (Simo, 2017). The Al Hajar is 100km wide. The Al Hajar is composed of several mountains in the UAE, such as Jebel Jais, Jebel Hafeet, Hatta mountains, and Al Faya. Jebel Jais is the highest and stands at 1934m.
The Al Hajar mountain range is a hot spot for the UAE’s adventures, especially when there is pleasant weather. The ranges are a major tourist attraction; the residents are also common visitors to the geographical feature for recreational purposes, with jebel jais standing out among the other mountains in the range. Some of the mountain range’s unique features include the viewing deck park in the Jebel Jais, the historical site in Jebel Hafeet, which has unique fossil discoveries archaeological remains found in the Desert Park. The mountain road in Jebel Hafeet is a perfect spot for picture lovers. Other attractions to the mountain range are the adventurous activities that take place in the mountains; they consist of mountain biking; visitors are always challenged to drive or cycle up the Jebel Mountain road for fun. Other activities in the range are such as zip-lining and mountain hiking. People also have fun enjoying great meals at their breathtaking restaurants as well as the barbeques. The Al Hajar Mountain has well exposed mega sheath folds and some amounts of eclogite, which is a rock that forms under high pressure deep within the earth’s crust; therefore, it offers a platform for geologists to learn more on what occurs in the earth’s interior (Kusky, 2005). Geographical features such as the Al Hajar mountain ranges need to be well protected from destruction so that people may continue to enjoy the great benefits derived from them.
