The search for water on Mars has taken more than 15 years, and there were signs that liquid was flowing on the service of the Red planet. Before the discovery of liquid on Mars, scientists believe that “rivers and oceans may have covered the land” (Redd 2018), and thus they were optimistic water would be available on that planet. So I think the traces of rivers and oceans were the striking evidence that there was water on Mars. Over some times, the water evaporated and “escaped into space, allowing less to fall back to the surface of the planet” (Redd 2018). The climate of Mars billions of years ago was warm and wet, and the land could support microbial life. Unlike the earth, Mars is smaller, with a thin atmosphere and less gravity. The big question is, can we still find water today on Mars? The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) with the HiRISE camera took some images on the Martian surface, and the discovery of dark streaks confirmed some regions with signs of salty water flowing on the planet. According to scientists, streaks depends on water to be formed. Other traces of water appeared within the ice caps in the north and south poles of the planet. Not everyone believes Mars contains water because of its high temperatures, sand, and dust found on the service.

Did you, the moon has ice water which, when melt, can “potentially be used to drink or to extract hydrogen for rocket fuel?” (Thompson 2009). This is according to NASA, who planned for the mission to the moon and came back with this good news. The water ice on the moon was visible through spectrographic measurements and both through infrared and ultraviolet spectroscopic measurements. The scientists discovered the “craters at the south pole of the moon were cold enough to keep water frozen at the surface” (Thompson 2009). They have tried to figure out the exact state of water found in the moon because the water ice discovered on the lunar service had dirt particles. I think the discovery of water on the moon proved that it was not a dead planetary body. Such discoveries give hope to search for life in other cosmos.
