The second world war took place from 1939 to 1945. Allies and the Axis were the opposing alliances of the war. The axis powers included Europe, Japan, and Italy, while the allies consisted of Germany, France, South America, Spain, and China. In this essay am going to discuss the causes of world war 2.

Versailles Treaty. The victorious powers of the first world war had met to decide Germany’s future, which was supposed to pay reparations and accept the guilt for the emergence of the war. With these, Germany was prohibited from having a large army, and it also lost its territory. Economic depression hit the world in 1920. During this time, unemployment cases raised, businesses were closed, reduce trade, and economies shrank. Germany was led by Adolf Hilter, who promised to restore their wealth and power.

Hitler began building up Germanys weapons and army secretly. In 1939 he ordered his troops to invade the German speakers of Austria, France, and Czechoslovakia. At that point, Britain and France were not prepared for war. Hitler allied with Japan and Italy. An international organization, The League of Nations, was formed in 1919 to maintain world peace. All countries were intended to be participants of the league so that disputes would be settled through negotiation. Some countries did not join the league, so the league lacked an army to prevent aggressive military, for example, the invasion of Japan in Manchuria, China.

Economic depression hit Japan in 1931. Japan required natural resources to produce plenty of goods in their factories; therefore, they attacked China for gain in minerals. It also invaded Vietnam in the southeast of Asia. The United States had territories in Asia that are Guam and the Philippines. Japan feared threat from the united states’ military; therefore, in 1941 December, it attacked Pearl Harbour in Hawaii.
