STORY
Sarah takes on the task of researching ways that the company would apply more sustainable methods of production that would reduce their environmental issues of plastic theft remanufacture that was a threat to the environment. She does her research and finds out that there is more than what meets the eye. She finally finds a way to solve the issue.
MAJOR PROBLEMS
- COMPANY LOSSES
Becker Dairy Company is losing an estimated cost of $2.2 million annually. Theft of plastic delivery is the leading cause of company losses. Since the delivery crates are necessary for the store delivery, the company has to remanufacture the boxes which cause company losses
- ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES
Remanufacturing of crates done to replace stolen containers is estimated to produce about 3 million pounds of plastic. The incident caused the company to have issues with the environmental body, and hence Sarah must come up with a way to solve this.
- SARAH’S GREEN PRESENTATION
Sarah’s green presentation is fantastic, but then it would cut into the company’s $2.2 million savings. Hence a few adjustments have to be made to achieve this. Moreover, Sarah gives her presentation, and her bosses are amazed and happy by this, but then they have not fully understood the concept and the substance behind it. The sustainability expert was the central brain behind the project, excluding Sarah. The project presentation will not go through if cut off.
WHAT IS THE STAKE OF THE COMPANY?
The company’s ultimate stake would be more losses, which would be followed by the closure of the company or its managing on low profits. With the potential backlash by the media that would arise from cutting off the sustainable expert, more in their company’s past would be out in public leading to the damage of Becker Dairy’s reputation
STAKE OF THE WORKERS
With the company being closed or operating on low profits, most of the workers would lose their jobs. The situation will not only affect their present, but it will also affect their future since having worked at becker’s dairy company will have been recorded in their curriculum vitae.
THE RESOLUTION
Sarah tries to warn Alice against the decision made by Geoff, the company’s CEO, but then all goes to deaf ears. Alice advises Sarah to forget about it since she had more experience than her.
