The suitability of Multivitamin A, 100% L to be displayed with other “additives free” products
Concentrated apple juice 60% lowers cholesterol
Carrot juice contains no additive
Orange juice promotes immune functioning
The chose the ingredients due to their nutritive value, especially to persons who are health conscious. Multivitamin A is suitable to be displayed with other additive-free products since the concentrated apple juice is dehydrated to remove water (Gelski, 2019, pp. 1). As such, no additives are added hence can be used by health-conscious individuals due to its ability to reduce body cholesterol levels. Besides, concentrated carrot juice contains no additives in addition to being a powerful antioxidant in the body. Finally, orange juice plays a vital role in boosting the body immunity. The use of orange juice by health-conscious persons is because additives are not used in the concentration process.
Slide 2
Beneficial ingredients in product A
Vitamin A maintains soft tissue
Pineapple juice builds a stronger immunity
Thiamine helps in conduction of nerve signals
I chose the elements because they provide vital nutrients required by health-conscious people as they seek to keep healthy. For instance, vitamin A maintains healthy teeth and development of soft tissues in the body. Also, pineapple juice is a vital element since it helps create strong immunity. Also, the ingredient is vital in improving digestion due to its high level of antioxidants, which protects the body from damage (Gelski, 2019, pp. 1). Finally, thiamine is a crucial ingredient since it helps in the coordination of the body’s nerve system. In addition, thiamine is crucial for the metabolism of pyruvate. As such, the ingredient is critical in helping body cells convert more carbohydrates to energy as required by individuals who are health conscious.
Slide 3
Beneficial ingredients in product A
Vitamin C helps in repairing body tissues
Concentrated apple juice protects the body from damage
Papaya help prevent constipation
Vitamin is vital for health-conscious persons since it is necessary for growth, development, and repair of body tissues. As such, Vitamin C boosts the immune system by maintaining body cartilage. Besides, the concentrated apple juice is important for health-conscious individuals since it improves body immunity by continuously improving digestion (Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority, 2010). As a result, more food nutrients are ingested into the body hence improving body strength. Lastly, papaya is a crucial ingredient due to its ability to promote a healthy digestive tract due to its high fiber and water content. As such, the ingredient aids in digestion once used in the manufacture of the multivitamin A food juice formulation.

Product D (Jell O) can be displayed along with other vegetarian products
Gelatin is not a vegan
Citric acid naturally occurs in citrus fruits
Drinking enough water
I choose the ingredients since they can be termed as vegan; hence should be displayed along with other vegan products. For instance, gelatin is a vegan since a product termed as agar agar is sometimes marketed as gelatin despite it being vegan. Besides, citric acid can be considered vegan since it naturally occurs in plants. As a result, product D should be displayed on shelves, along with other vegetarian products (Dagnas & Membré, 2013). Finally, vegetarians need to drink a lot of water; hence product D can be categorized together with vegetarian products because it contains a lot of water. Vegetarians need to drink a lot of water to ensure they remain hydrated due to their fiber intake.
Slide 5
Why product D should not be displayed with jelly products made using natural food additives
Presence of artificial additives
Presence of phenylamine
Sweeteners such as potassium cannot be used together with natural food additives
Contrary to natural additives, artificial additives are just added to preserve flavor, enhance taste, and quality. As such, artificial additives are made from synthetic chemicals hence do not provide the same quality as natural ones (Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority, 2010). Besides, the presence of phenylamine postulates that product D should not be displayed on the same shelf as products with natural food additives. The chemical contains rotten amines, which often produces an odor of rotten fish. Finally, the application of potassium sweeteners postulates that product D is unfit to be displayed on the same shelf as natural additives. As such, the product should not be placed on the same shelves as jelly products having natural food additives.
Slide 6
Why product D should not be displayed with jelly products made using natural food additives
The presence of sodium citrate
Nitrates could be toxic
Product D contains gelatin
Sodium citrate cannot be displayed with jelly products since it causes muscle twitching, weight gain, and fast heart rates. Natural food additives do not have such side effects; hence the two cannot be placed together. The presence of nitrates in product D lender the food toxic hence should not be placed on the same shelf as products having natural food additives. As such, there is a risk of the formation of carcinogenic compounds, which would be detrimental to individuals’ health. Finally, the presence of gelatin in product postulate that it would not be displayed in similar packages as jelly products using natural food additives.
Slide 7
The suitability of Product T to be displayed with other packaged snacks labeled with “No
Preservatives added,”.
The food label contains the net quantity of food in the package
Product T label has the country of origin.
Availability of the food description
The food label for product T has all the necessary details as outlined by the Singapore food regulation body. For instance, the food label has the net quantity of the product as 135g, thus providing crucial information needed by the consumer. However, the product does not break the specific ingredients present in the food formulation (Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority, 2010). Also, the food product label indicates the country of origin as Japan hence fulfilling requirements set by Singapore’s food regulation body. Lastly, a brief food description is provided stating the brand and the product name. The food product is depicted as mini dorayaki and has traces of red bean pancake. The information thus serves as a guide wishing to purchase the product.
Slide 8
Why product T would be displayed with snacks labeled no preservatives added
Have a short shelf life
Molds were present even before the expected expiry date
No preservative is indicated on the label
The absence of preservatives in product T makes the jam pancake to be used for the labeled three months. The shelf life is relatively short compared to other products; hence the pancake must be used within the slated period (Dagnas & Membré, 2013, pp. 540). Also, the presence of molds before the actual expiry date postulates that the food lacked preservatives. If preservatives such as ascorbic acid were added, the product would have lasted for long. The product’s label does not contain any information on preservatives added. Manufacturers are required to provide such crucial information to serve as a guiding principle to consumers in the Singaporean market.
Slide 9
Food additives to prevent the presence of mold
Propionic acid
Sorbic acid
Benzoic acid
I selected the above-named food additives due to their ability to inhibit the growth of aerobic microorganisms resulting in molding. For instance, propionic acid serves as the most effective mold inhibitor and should have been used in product T to prevent spoilage before its actual expiry date. Besides, sorbic acid is an effective food additive in inhibiting the growth of mold, which can lead to food spoilage and the spread of fatal diseases. Sorbic acid is commonly used as a food additive due to its ability to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in food (Dagnas & Membré, 2013, pp. 544). Benzoic acid would be added in product T as a food additive since it acts as a mold and yeast inhibitor. Benzoic acid has the greatest activity at low pH values.
Slide 10
Conclusion
The presentation provides an analysis of the suitability of the products to be displayed on their respective shelves. As such, multivitamin A should be placed together with additive-free products since the concentrated juices have no preservatives. The juices are concentrated by evaporating water with no other additive added. Also, the product is suitable for display alongside other vegetarian products since components such as citric acid naturally occur in plants. Besides, gelatin can be considered as a vegan though only in “agar-agar” form. Finally, product T contains all necessary details as required by Singapore food regulation. Also, food additives such as ascorbic acid should be used to prevent the presence of mold in the food product.
