The United States Governance

The response of Bush to the threats to U.S interests as cold war came to an end

The leadership of President Bush set several measures to counter the threats that the U.S faced. These measures included deploying the military to protect their political objectives, by attacking enemies like Bosnia and Iraq. For example, the existence of the US army in Korea halted the possible attacks from the country. Additionally, the United States engaged in humanitarian works by collaborating with the United Nations and other international organizations (Leffler, 2013). The government also worked together with the forces of cordial states in a move to end the war and protect the countries of different states. Moreover, George bush deployed the soldiers to countries in Europe and Asia to eliminate possible attacks targeted to the U.S.  Since the US forces are powerful, president bush used it to threaten enemies and run initiative that that aimed at meeting the policies of America. However, the use of excessive force was discouraged hence President Bush sort use of diplomacy in response to the threats.

Impacts of terrorist attacks on U.S foreign and domestic policies

The attack on September 11, 2001, had numerous impacts on the foreign and domestic policies of the U.S. The attack led to the death of many Americans and exposed the vulnerability of this country to terrorism. Notably, America’s domestic policies include education, economic growth, and criminal justice. The foreign policies are peace promotion, enhancing human rights, collaborating with friendly nations to solve problems, and ensuring national security (Leffler, 2013). The bomb attack influenced on coming up with a new philosophy to counter-terrorism. Typically, this move would see the working together of great nations like Russia, China, and other Arabic states.  However, this act brings challenges like singularly fighting for human rights and the enlargement of NATO. Furthermore, the ambush affects the defence of the U.S bringing a heated debate on the mechanisms to manage the safety of the nation. The bomb impacted the economy as the countermeasures require huge resources to implement. For instance, improving security in airports, boosting the military forces, and intelligence require huge finances.

Obstacles to Obama’s reform agenda

Obama’s agenda was to ensure a good education, improved health care, end wars, and improve the economy. However, this plan encountered several challenges in a move to actualization. For instance, the affordable medical services encountered financial obstacle as it was expensive, and the leaders in the health sector were reluctant (Lowenthal, 2009). Another challenge was lack of consensus due to the political differences and opinions. Additionally, the president’s poor advisors and bias in financial sector stumble the realization of economic agenda. The increasing levels of jobless people hinder the actualization of steady economic growth. Besides, the United States encountered a budget deficit which was a major obstacle to Obama’s reform agenda (Lowenthal, 2009). Worse still, the president sent more soldiers to war areas like Afghanistan hence leading to the continuation of the war. Moreover, the growth of industrialization in America resulted in global warming making it hard for protecting the environment, which was also a goal of Obama administration.
