The virgin group is a company whose focus is to help new business grow. Upon analyzing the leadership and management structure, it is clear that the company uses a distributed leadership style. Through this type of leadership, the company can influence the frontline staff as well as the middle managers. This type of leadership is attributed to the fact that the company’s leadership focuses on gaining the hearts of everyone within the company. It is made possible through creating a stable environment through which stakeholder can bring their opinions. At the Virgin group, there is a distribution of power where employees are empowered. Virgin Group also proposes to distribute the possible risks that the company may face in general.
The structure of the company is highly organized with stakeholders and management led by the CEO. Also, there is a highly structured investment team who bring ideas and sponsor the company in general. There is an efficient collaboration between the management, investors, and alumni of the company. The company’s team has over 75 years of collective experience. Decisions are collectively made through the board under the leadership of the CEO.
In my own opinion, I agree with the leadership style of the company for a couple of reasons. To begin with, the company deals with a lot of virgin businesses operating under different modules. As such, a distributed leadership style helps managers create ways to develop the strengths of pure companies. Also, this style helps develop channels for constructive feedback as employees have a say to what they are doing. Through this leadership style, numerous virgin business can get business advice that is convenient to their line of business. Besides, due to the size of the company, it is essential to include everyone in the daily running of processes within the company.
