(in a nursing process there are various kinds of theories that cover the process, can be interpreted as a reference in making a concept, until the aim is to guide how nursing practice and this also becomes a basis for a nurse in clinical decision making. One example of the theory that will be discussed is the theory of “Basic Human Needs” which was discovered by Abraham Maslow). Maslow’s theory is needed in carrying out a nursing care because the theory divides human needs in applying it to patients by how to meet the more important needs first to those that are not too important which assume that all motivation occurs as a reaction to the perception of a person or individual, this matter strongly emphasizes the fulfillment of needs that are very internal in humans. Maslow divides human needs into five basic types, namely: Physiological Needs A nurse must help clients at every age level in meeting their physiological needs. These physiological needs are the most powerful and urgent needs that must be fulfilled the most important by humans in running life daily life which consists of meeting the nutritional needs, oxygen, sleep, and so on. The need for security (Self Security Needs) The need for security will arise after physiological needs are met. People who feel insecure have a need for order and stability and will try hard to avoid things that are foreign or unexpected. Needs to be accepted (Love ad Belongingness Needs) After physiological and security needs are met, then human attention will turn to the desire to get friends, love, and feelings of acceptance which as a whole it describes a person’s emotions so that by fulfilling these needs by nurses, patients will tend to have a stable emotional return Needs to be valued (Self Esteem Needs) These needs can be achieved if the needs to be accepted are met. These needs are related to the desire to have a positive image and receive attention, recognition, and appreciation from others. Self-actualization needs (Self Actualization Needs) These needs are the needs to experience self-fulfillment, which is the highest category of needs. These needs include the need to develop one’s own overall potential, improve one’s abilities, and become a better person.
