The author gives an example by stating that teens are nowadays more involved with how they look, indulge in sex and drugs, etc. His claims are sensitive but convincing to the audience.
The Thesis of ‘Seeing in Beautiful, Precise Pictures’ by Temple Grandin is that disability sometimes is a gift. The author gives an example of herself as she had lived with autism and could recall things in pictures – as she was shown. She claims that words are vague. This article is impressive since it gives a clear description of how the author works through her disability and sees it as a gift.
The thesis of ‘Black Men in Public Spaces’ by Brent Staples is that black men are often racially stereotypes and treated differently. The author gives his account on how he had been racially discriminated and had to change his behavior – especially in public spaces. His examples are quite specific and convincing as he narrates his encounters with others.
The thesis of ‘Bombs bursting in Air’ by Beth Johnson is that in life, people often meet various challenges – bombs of life; however, they must always stay positive and be thankful for the good things that they have. The author gives instances where she had witnessed the bombs of life – challenges like divorce, deaths, etc., and cites that despite all these challenges, she is thankful and always looking forward to the good times.
