To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee
To kill a mocking bird is one of the most famous books in American literature, .it is inspired by the author’s personal experiences, just like many other books. It mainly focuses on the loss of racial innocence issues that are evident in those times but remain relevant in the present time. The title of the book was what caught my attention. I at first thought it was about killing a mocking bird. The book is actually about scout a six-year-old girl growing up in the south during the great depression with her father Atticus Finch, much of the book focuses on the trial of Tom Robinson, a black man put on trial for the supposed rape of a white woman .although Atticus manages to show that he is innocent. Scout manages to s prevent him from being lynched. Tom is either way convicted with the crime and then shot while trying to escape. Afterward, Bob Well, the same man who accuses tom of rape, tries to kill scout and her brother as revenge against Atticus for exposing his Luiseno the witness stand.
The main ideas of this book are courage this shown for example when scout a little girl is ready to defend her father by fighting her bullies .in contrast, Atticus is willing to take on a case that will put him against all the racial prejudice that runs the town which will not waste any time to punish him if he gets in its way. The cover picture shows a child standing under a tree, holding a flower and a bird at the top of the tree, and the child seems to be in a position that suggests she’s luring the bird towards her. The branches of the tree are not leafy, so it depicts hard times as the story talks about a depressing time for the character scout and her father and the black community during that time
