To put on the PPE gear, one should first assemble or the proper PPE material together and ensure the gown is of the correct size. Second, one should perform hand hygiene using a hand sanitizer. Third, an individual should put on the gown and tie all the ties on the gown. In some cases, one might seek the help of another medical personnel to tie the gown well. Before offering assistance, one should ensure that the person offering help also performs hand hygiene. Fourth, one should put on the respirator or the facemask properly to ensure it offers good protection to the nose, month and extends under the chin. Fifth, one should put of face shield to protect the whole face. If a face shield is not available, goggles can be used to protect the eyes. Sixth, hand hygiene should be performed using hand sanitizer again; then, an individual should put on the gloves. The gloves should be put on properly to cover the wrist of the gown.

To take off the PPE, one should first remove the glove properly to ensure the removal does not cause contaminations to the hand. Then dispose them of in medical trash bin. Technics such as glove-in-glove or bird break should be used to remove the gloves properly. Second, the gown should be removed by untieing the ties and then pulling the gown down and away from the body before disposing it too. After removing the gloves and gown, the healthcare personnel can leave the patient room. After this, hand hygiene should be performed using hand sanitizer; then one should remove the face shield or the goggles. To remove them properly, one should grab the strap and pull them upward and away from the head. The next step is to remove and discard the respirator or the facemask by pulling it away from the face without touching the front part. Lastly, one should perform hand hygiene using the hand sanitizer after removing the respirator or the facemask.
