I agree with you that spirituality is putting faith in a supernatural power, or realism beyond human understanding. For instance, there is God who Christians believe in, the creator of the universe and all creatures (Westera, 2016). There is life after death, and there is the hope of being delivered from problems like diseases. Spirituality encourages morality since it is a set of values like integrity, honesty, and responsibility, among other values. The Holy Bible contains moral teachings and instills hope in those who seem to lose hope. In nursing, professional healthcare providers need to support patients with respect and love, giving them hope of recovering. In the case of death, people still need hope that there is life after death. In such a way, patients and their families will be emotionally healthy and live a positive life since everything is temporal. Spirituality improves performance and patient outcomes (Westera, 2016).
