Topic: College Education Should Be Free For All

Purpose: To persuade

Specific purpose: To persuade my audience that college education should be free for all

Thesis: In this speech, I will discuss that college education should be free for all, and individuals who should join college education should not be selected on the basis of family stability or performance in secondary schools.

Introduction

  1. Attention: my attention has been drawn by the exorbitant cost of accessing college education, which means that only students from well-off families afford a college education. My interest has been on those bright children from low-income families that cannot afford to pay for a college education. Something else that has drawn my attention is the higher percentage of whites in colleges as compared to blacks and Hispanic.
  2. Relate the topic to the audience: my audiences are educationalists and students. To relate to my audience, I will respond to prompts from my audience, and I would refer to what they already know.
  • Credibility: as proof of the credibility of my topic is based on the Center for American Progress and the National Center for Education Statistics
  1. Preview: this assignment consists of an introduction, need step, satisfaction step, visualization step, and action step.
  2. Need step: the creation of public awareness on the need to ensure access to a college education for all.
  3. Sensitization through community action. Whenever there are public gatherings, the community members should be made aware that college education should be free for all individuals.
  4. Awareness through television shows. Television stations should run ads that advocate for college education for all citizens.
  5.   1. There is a need for awareness in order to ensure social empowerment through achieving oh higher education. All communities in the United States should be socially empowered to ensure equal access for all.
  6. There is a need for all individuals, whether from poor or rich families, to access a college education. Every citizen has the right to education, and this right should not be violated.

Transition: having discussed the creation of public awareness and the need for every citizen to access a college education, attention now shifts to providing solutions to the problem.

  1. Satisfaction step: the government should increase funding for college education
  2. Increase of funds for the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds, which is the fund program that helps highly qualified but needy students to get full financial support for a college education. The program has been in existence but has not been able to cover the majority of the needy students.
  3.  increase in budget allocation on higher education to ensure that more needy students access a college education.
  4. 1. Equal representation. The blacks and Hispanic should be equally represented as the whites in fields such as mathematics, statistics, and engineering.
  5. there should also be a special fund to support the college education of needy foreign students like the blacks and Hispanic.

Transition: also, I will focus on the benefits of providing equal access to college for all.

  • Visualization: the government will reap more benefits by making a college education accessible and affordable for all individuals.
  1. More professionals. If college education is made free for all, the government will have more professionals like engineers and teachers.
  2. social empowerment. A college education will bring social empowerment to many families and individuals.
  3.  1. Provision of better job opportunities. If individuals access a college education, they will be able to secure better employment opportunities and improve their living standards.
  4. satisfaction of career ambitions. If all individuals are allowed to access a college education, they can satisfy their career dreams.

Action step

  1. Summary: there are disparities in accessing college education, the majority of which are attributed to the shortage of financial resources.
  2. Call for action. The government should increase budget allocation for college education and funding for Opportunity Funds.
  • Closing: every individual has the right to accessing free education, and this right should be honored.
