Transactional model of communication
One of the elements that is missing in the transactional model of communication from most people’s understanding of communication is symbolic interactions over time. In this case, many transacting parties may not have interacted before. For instance, one may initiate a transaction with a person who is new to him. Given this case, there is no element of symbolic interaction over time. The existence of symbolic interaction over time influence everyday communication in the sense that it brings about the element of trust (Blythe 17). When people have notable encounters before, they will tend to have sound and more relaxed interaction than when strangers meet.
Last but not least, the other missing element in a transactional model of communication is the ellipses of the communication environment, that is, the interpretation of the provided data. The section where the ellipses from the two communicating sides meet is the most critical one as this imply that the communicators share the same meaning of the message (Gamble and Michael 22). This influences everyday communication as the communicating parties will have the same point of view of the subject matter.
